A Word from Mary
Blessings and peace, dear siblings,
We are now halfway through the Lenten season. I pray that this time of leaning into God has been meaningful and transformative for you. God is so good to always be standing and waiting for us with open arms.
Please join us for several opportunities to gather and serve together this month. Saint Matthew Women United will meet this Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to assemble hygiene bags for our friends with Under the Bridge Ministries. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by a speaker from the organization. There will also be a funeral on Saturday, March 21, for Diana Eades’ sister. More details can be found in the events section of the newsletter.
Holy Week begins March 29 with Palm Sunday. We will have our annual Easter family meal, and this year we will also celebrate Keith Butterfield’s 99th birthday. More details will be shared soon.
I love you all, and I pray every day at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for you, for our beloved community, and for our world.

Kids’ News – Jesus Heals Jairus’ Daughter
One day, a man named Jairus came to Jesus with a desperate request. Jairus was an important leader in the synagogue, but that didn’t matter to him in that moment. His young daughter was very sick, and he believed Jesus could help her. Jairus fell at Jesus’ feet and asked Jesus to come to his home.
While Jesus was on the way, some people arrived with terrible news. They told Jairus that his daughter had already died and that there was no reason to bother Jesus anymore. But Jesus looked at Jairus and said, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” Jairus trusted Jesus and continued on with him. When they arrived at the house, Jesus took the girl by the hand and told her to get up—and she did. She was alive again.
What We Learned
- Faith means trusting Jesus even when things seem impossible.
- Jesus listens to everyone, no matter their background or status.
- God’s love brings hope even in the hardest moments.
- Trusting Jesus helps us face fear with courage.
Easter will be here before we know it! That means it’s time to get ready for our Easter egg hunt. We still have lots of eggs that need to be stuffed for the Easter Bunny, so we appreciate everyone who can help. On Easter morning, the egg hunt will take place before church, so be sure to come early and join the fun. During worship, the kids will enjoy an Easter movie with popcorn and juice so everyone can share in a joyful morning together.
